Research challenges and users’ role in the Future Media Internet

This Networked Session has presented the state-of-the-art and the future vision of the research in the Networked Media field, focused on the Future Media Internet and its user centric view.

The aim is to discuss concrete challenges which will probably be the constitutional pillars of the Future Media Internet research, with a particular emphasis on the Content aware networks and network aware applications, 3D media Internet & immersive media experiences beyond HD, and networked search and retrieval.

In order to allow a better interaction, we had 3 short presentations and a final with a ‘round table’ to get feedback from the attendants.

The session was organised by the User Centric Media cluster of the Networked Media Unit (INFSO-DG) and the following projects: DIVAS, Intermedia, SAMBA, Content, CitizenMedia, MyMedia, TA2, My-e-Director 2012, VirtualLife, VICTORY, 20-20 3D Media, CHORUS, ARENA, Playmancer, GAMES@LARGE, VISNET II and SAME.

The Conference Programme had covered this year a broad range of technical and topical issues, with a full schedule of tutorials, technical papers sessions, discussion panels, master-classes and special feature events. ARENA had the opportunity of showing the results in the EBU Village (stand 10.D21).

Mercat Audiovisual de Catalunya

the Audiovisual MAC will again be the meeting point for the entire local audiovisual sector. The eight events held previously endorse the Audiovisual MAC as the sole event of such characteristics in the European sphere, both in terms of capacity for generating business in the technology sector and promotion of the production and exchange of contents.

The Audiovisual MAC is the meeting point and place for reflection regarding local communication. Professionals can visit the technological fair and the contents market, as well as attend the conference sessions that will take place over the two days with papers on issues affecting the sector. There will also be the awarding of the Audiovisual MAC prizes, created with the aim of incentivising production, quality and innovation in the audiovisual sector.

This year there are four prize categories: New Format Project, Serialised Project, Multiplatform Project and Technological Prize. The I Exhibition of Local TV Programmes will also be held.

Activa Multimedia has presented ARENA in "Measurement of audiences and financial feasibility".
